Australian dictionary: How good is your spelling?

Feel like testing your spelling skills. Can you get ten out of ten for the following words?

leucaemia, leukaemia
whiskey, whisky
dakked, dacked
transshipment, transhipment
bonzer, bonza
wagon, waggon
organise, organize
co-operate, cooperate
ice cream, ice-cream
sulphur, sulfur

I'll reveal the answer sometime in the future.

Good luck.

  1. OK. That really was a trick question. All of the words are correctly spelt in Australian English.

My goal with Kelvin's dictionary of preferred Australian English spelling, is to provide the single preferred spelling for a word when words have two, three, or more ways they can be spelt.

If you want to know the preferred Australian English spelling of any of the words, try Word Check from the dictionary project page www.dictionary.JustLocal.com.au.

    Enjoy.
