IMPORTANT REMINDER: Support ends tomorrow for Windows XP SP2, Windows 2000, and older Server products.

A while ago I attended a Microsoft Partner meeting and I must admit I was a bit concerned to hear that on July 13th 2010, support for Windows XP was ending. The good thing is when I investigated further, I found it isn't Windows XP, just Windows XP SP2.

That means all you need to do is to upgrade your computer/s to Windows XP SP3 and you will continue to receive support updates.

It feels to me the promotional material around the July 13th date is encouraging people to move to Windows 7. This isn't necessary. All that is required is to download and install the SP3 update. My suggestion is to move to Windows 7 when you have a business reason to do so.

I hope you find this information clarifies the situation with Windows XP SP2 being end of life and now understand Windows XP SP3 is still supported.
